This is a beginner level course designed for anyone interested in repairing their own clothing. In this class, Lauren Callis (of an Upcycled Closet) will give a presentation on the cultural background of different types of mending and explain the cultural importance of these methods, she will provide some *slowing down* philosophy about mending and consumption and then walk through a presentation and instructions on mending. Each participant will receive their own mending kit.
The class is taught by Lauren Callis of An Upcycled Closet. An Upcycled Closet’s mission is to supply you with secondhand items that are sourced to be functional, sustainable, and expressive. Lauren is a staunch believer in buying used, mending it, making it, and doing it yourself. She started An Upcycled Closet in 2016 to help others do the same. She hopes this shop inspires others to do the same and provide a helpful platform to do so affordably and easily.
