Small Business Design Internship • Spring 2017

This is a 2-credit internship (5-7 hours per week) for the Spring 2017 semester, that will last about 11 weeks, spanning from February to April, depending on what works for the student (we’re flexible). We are looking for an entrepreneurial spirited undergraduate student with a gregarious and hardworking personality who has a passion for fashion design and small businesses. This is a great opportunity to experience all aspects of a design company within a fun and creative environment. Along with school credit we’d like to offer Winsome credit to our intern ($10 in credit for every hour worked).

The internship entails responsibilities such as editing photos and graphics, shipping, taking photos for our social media accounts, writing product descriptions, organizing, and any other necessary tasks. Apart from maintaining these responsibilities, the intern will participate in weekly meetings that focus on a particular theme (i.e. branding, patterning, sampling, pricing, etc…) and will also get to go on a couple of field trips! Because we are a small business, this internship will especially stress how to manage each and every part of being a clothing design company. This is a super casual environment, but we get a lot done and have a ton of fun along the way. It will be challenging, but rewarding for anyone interested in small business, small scale production and entrepreneurial ventures.

Responsibilities:

  • Shipping inventory

  • Editing photos & graphics

  • Social media photography & maintenance

  • Organizing

  • Writing product descriptions

Requirements:

  • Undergraduate, currently enrolled in school

  • Strong computer & graphics skills: proficient in Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop; InDesign preferred, but not required

  • Excellent communication & writing skills

  • Basic cutting & sewing knowledge

  • Experience with social media platforms

  • A creative eye

  • No dog allergies! (sorry)
